Applications are invited for registration as Private Candidates for B.A./B.Com. Degree Examinations to be held from April 2007-2009.
a. Eligibility conditions for B.A./B.Com. Degree Examinations.
A pass in Higher Secondary Examination/Vocational Higher Secondary Examination of Government of Kerala/Pre-degree Examination of this University or an examination accepted by the Academic Council as equivalent thereto.
b. Candidates should choose only those combination of Subjects, involving no practicals, offered in the Colleges affiliated to the University of Kerala.
c. Candidates who have passed the Sahithyacharya Examination conducted by the Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha and Pre-degree Examination of Kerala University or any other examination recognised as equivalent, thereto, by the University can register as Private Candidates for B.A. (Hindi) Part I English in two settings. Such candidates should have completed 3 years after passing the Pre-degree examination or an examination recognised as equivalent by the University, prior to the II Year B.A. Part I English Examination.
d. Candidates who have registered/appeared for First or/and Second Year Examination of B.A./B.Com. and had discontinued shall be permitted to register for II and III Year only or III year only respectively.
e. Candidates who have passed the B.A./B.Sc. Examinations of Kerala University can register for Optional Change to B.A. with a different set of Optional Subjects and to B.Com. Part III.
f. Candidates who have passed Part I & II of B.A./B.Sc. Examinations, but failed in Part III shall be permitted to register for Optional Change to B.A. with a different set of Optional Subjects provided they have registered/appeared for the Final Year Examination in the case of B.A. Students.
g. Candidates who are not matriculates of the University should apply for matriculation in the prescribed form with fee.
h. Candidates who have passed the examination other than Pre-degree Examination of Kerala University should apply for Recognition in the prescribed form with fee. They should also forward the Migration Certificate from the University/Board from where they have passed the qualifying examination. Candidates qualifying from Calicut University need not apply for Recognition. Candidates who have passed the H.S.E./V.H.S.E. of Government of Kerala and A.I.S.S.C.E./I.S.C. (Years 12) examination need not submit individual Eligibility Certificate for the recognition of their qualifying examination. They should remit Rs.100/- towards fee for Eligibility Certificate and submit the pay-in-slip along with the application for Eligibility Certificate.
Those who have passed the Compartmental examination of I.S.C./A.I.S.S.C.E. and the “SAY” examination of H.S.E./V.H.S.E. of the Government of Kerala and seek admission to a degree Course in this University during the same year itself are also exempted from producing individual Eligibility Certificate. Individual Eligibility Certificate is required for all other qualifying examinations.
Candidates who have passed the Pre-degree Examination from University of Kerala need to submit only the pass Certificate of Pre-degree and T.C. along with the applications for Private Registration and required fee.
i. Candidates with higher degree of this University can register to the lower Degree Examination provided they have basic qualifications, and rules regarding Optional Change is applicable to them. The minimum duration of the Course is not less than two academic years and they shall take the examination for all the papers at one setting at the end of the Second year. But they are exempted from appearing Part I and II which they have already passed.
j. Attention is invited to the fact that M.Com. and B.Com. (Regular/Vocational/Restructured) graduates who opt for Additional Elective of B.Com. Degree should register only at the Institute of Distance Education.
k. Those who register for B.Com. Degree Course cannot opt “Electronic Data Processing and Computer Application” and “Tourism and Hotel Management” as Optionals.
l. Deaf and dumb candidates who register for B.A./B.Com. Degree Course are exempted from appearing for Part II – Additional Language. Such candidates should apply for the eligible concession with the original Medical Certificate obtained from a Medical Practitioner with the latest photograph certified by the Doctor.

B. Candidates can remit the fees either at the University Cash Counter or by Demand Draft – The S.B.I./S.B.T. or the District co-operative Bank or “FRIENDS/Janasevanakendrams” of Kollam, Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Kerala, payable at Thiruvananthapuram.
C. Candidate’s name and purpose of remittance should be written on the reverse page of the Demand
Draft.
D. Separate Chalan or Demand Draft should be forwarded for registration, matriculation, recognition etc.
E. The address furnished in the Demand Draft/Chalan should be permanent home address of the candidate and should be identical with that shown in the application
F. The Chalan remitted for the candidate, with the address of unaffiliated Private Colleges will not be accepted.
G. In the case of bulk remittance separate ledger sheets should be prepared for each purpose and such remittance should be completed at least three days prior to the last date notified by the University. Bulk remittance with more than hundred Chalans should be accepted only in the forenoon Session on working days.

Eligibility Certificate
b. Special care should be taken by the candidates to forward all the required documents along with the application including the list of enclosures.
c. A self-addressed (Home address only) stamped envelope worth of Rs.32/- should be forwarded with the application form.
d. Application form with all documents should reach University Office on or before the last date notified. Fee remitted before the last date prescribed alone will not be considered as a claim for the acceptance of the application.
e. Whenever remittance is made to the University towards the fees for various purposes by way of Demand Drafts, an additional amount of Rs.10/- (Rupees Ten only) should be remitted, along with the fees, towards service charges.
f. All defective/incomplete applications will be summararily rejected.
