Admission Process

Admission to the various courses is based on the performance of the students in the Common Entrance Examination, conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Government of Kerala and also on the basis of the relevant reservation norms. Only the cream of over 50,000 aspirants appearing for the Entrance Examination is admitted.

85% Merit/Management Seats - students will be allotted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations based on the Counselling conducted by the CEE. 15% NRI Seats - Separate Counselling will be conducted by the University and select the candidates based on the merit and followed by the first come first serve basis.
From 2006 onwards the Management Seat admission will be conducted by the CEE along with Common Allotment Process based on the Law on Self Financing Colleges, introduced by the Government of Kerala.

How to apply for management seat?

Application forms for Management/NRI seats can be had from the College Office on payment of Rs. 50/- or by post from the Principal, University College of Engineering, Kariavattom, Trivandrum 695 561 by sending a Demand Draft for Rs. 60/- drawn in favour of the Principal, University College of Engineering, which can be encashed at the Kariavattom Branch of State Bank of Travancore. A DD for Rs. 60/- which can be encashed at the SBT Kariavattom Branch has to be sent along with the applications downloaded from the website. The date and time of issue of application and councelling will be announced from time to time. Lateral Admissions

Diploma holders are eligible for admission directly in second year of four year B.Tech degree course from among the eligible candidates through the Common Entrance Examination conducted by LBS/Directorate of Technical Education of the Kerala Stated. 10% of the total intake will be the additional seats for the Lateral Entry Scheme. From this, 50% will be the Management Category and 50% will be from pure merit, which is allotted through the Common Counselling conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education.

Fee Structure

Merit seat – 30 seats each (50% seats reserved for various categories): Rs. 4,000/- tuition Fee per year, subject to modification by university/government.
management/privilege seat (35% based on pure merit) - 21 seats each: Rs. 38,700/- tuition Fee per year (by way of demand draft in favour of the finance officer, university of Kerala) as per university/government direction.
NRI seats (15% for NRIs) – 9 seats each : Rs. 1,00,000/- tuition fee per year (by way of demand draft in favour of the finance officer, university of Kerala)
At the time of admission – both management/privilege and NRI seat students: Rs. 9,150/- (approx.) have to remit by cash as per existing fee structure, as caution deposit – Rs. 5,000/- (refundable), special fee – Rs. 1,200/-, admission fee, affiliation fee, PTA fee etc. and the merit seats (free/freeship) students to be remitted Rs. 9,150/- including tuition fee of Rs. 4,000/-,. SC/ST category students need not remit any amount except Rs. 1,000/- as caution deposit.
