ir. A. Ramaswamy Mudaliar held the office for more than six years. He was
an Honorary Vice-Chancellor who had his permenent head quarters in Calcutta.
Sir Mudaliar came to Trivandrum mainly for the meetings of the Senate, Syndicate,
Research Council, etc. He did not accept any honorarium for his service as
Vice-Chancellor. It was during his time that the foundation stone of the Senate
House Campus was laid. The President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, laid the
foundation stone on 2nd February, 1956. Some of the notable events during
his tenure are the establishment of the Malayalam Lexicon project, the introduction
of Pre-University course etc…
