St. Stephen's College, the fulfillment of a long cherished desire of its founder, His Grace The Most Rev. Mar Thoma Dionysius, was founded in 1964. The college offers B.A. in Economics, B.Sc in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology and M. Sc in Zoology. There are nearly 2,000 students and 140 members on the staff.

 

In spite of the backwardness and locational disadvantage, the college has succeeded in producing very high academic results. The college also has units of NSS and NCC; a Population Education Club, Literary and Debating socieities, various science associations, a Women's cell etc. There is a sports hostel for volley ball sanctioned by Kerala Sports Council. An all Kerala Inter-Collegiate volley ball tournament in memory of His Grace Mar Thoma Dionysius, the founder manager of the college is held every year.
