This
college was established in 1939 is one of the
oldest as well as largest engineering colleges
in the country and is a premier technical institution
in the State. Other than IITs, this college is
rated as one among the top ten engineering colleges
in India. The college is an approved center for
Govt. of Kerala and Bureau of Indian Standards.
The institution has excellent computer facilities
with about 200 nodes. A multi-crore IMPACT project
for modernization is under implementation in Electronics
and Computer departments. The faculty members
do consultancy work in various fields of engineering,
through LBS Centre for Science and Technology.
A Career Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU) functioning
since 1981, arranges campus interviews, opportunities
for higher studies in India and abroad etc.
