  Awards:

Recipient of the Key English Language Teaching Award of the British Government, to pursue an MA degree in TESOL from the Institute of Education, University of London, UK, 1989—1990. Degree awarded 1991.

Recipient of the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute’s Faculty Research Fellowship, to pursue post-doctoral studies in Native Canadian Women’s Fiction at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada – 1994.
