History
Christian
College, Kattakada was established in 1965. It is affiliated
to the University of Kerala and recognised by the University
Grants Commission It is now a post-graduate college and conducts
regular courses for Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Statistics,
Mathematics, Botany, History, Economics, Commerce and Computer
Application and M.Sc in Botany, Physics and Chemistry.
The
college is run by the society for Higher Education of the
SIUC community of the Church of South India registered under
the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable
Societies Registration Act XII of 1955 (S.No. 143 of 1977)
The parent organiztion is the South Kerala Diocese of the
Church of South India.
Rt.
Rev. Dr. J.W. Gladstone who is the Bishop of the Diocese is
the Patron of the College. Sri. E.J. Vijayadas is the Manager.
The
building complex consists of Science Block, Administrative
Block, Library, newly built Auditorium, Information Centre
and semi-permanent structures. The college has an air-conditioned
computer lab with 16 computers and 3 printers connected to
LAN. There are well equipped laboratories for all the science
subjects. There is one newly constructed ladies hostel with
modern amenities. There are 2 college buses. This college
has a sister institution namely C.SI. College of Education
Parassala.
